Hello Readers!

This weekend caleb and myself went to Streamvale Open Farm with our mother and toddler group. Stream vale is located at 38 Ballyhanwood Road, Belfast, BT5 7SN just outside dundonald. We got there by bus which took about 20/25 minutes in total. Once we arrived we got greeted by staff as we arrived and they brought us to the burger barn where we got some tea, biscuits and juice then we were told about what times some of the actives take place such as feeding times for the lambs.

We started our trip by going to the cuddle corner to see some bunnies and puppies, no doubt this was by far our (my) favourite spot. I got to hold one of the three puppies and he seemed to be the most energetic of the tree, giving out loads of kisses and little nibbles. Caleb got a little jealous of me holding the puppy for so long but as soon as I passed the puppy back to the man there, Caleb was straight over trying to get in the pen with them. This was a new addition to the farm for 2018 and it was defiantly a good one!

After the cuddle corner we went to Pets corner where there were horses, donkeys, pigs, rabbits and lambs! In here we got to have a little walk around and look at all the animals then we were brought to sit on all the benches so we could feed the little lambs. This was a really lovely experience because even though there was quite a big group of people there, the staff made sure every child got a go feeding the lambs. After that all the kids were given some lettuce to feed all the rabbits in the pen right next to the benches. Caleb got a bit carried away and tried eating the lettuce himself never mind giving it to the poor rabbits, in the end he decided to share with the rabbits.

Once we had finished feeding the animals we moved on to the middle yard were all the baby chicks were kept they were honestly super cute and we got to hold one in a little basket. Some of the chicks were about 2 weeks old but some of the youngest ones were only a day old! After having a hold of the chicks we got some chicken feed to fed the older chickens, this was apart of a nice little nature trail which had a duck pond. Caleb and loads of fun throwing the chicken feed all around the place for the chickens to eat, there was also little pipes you could put the feed down so it went straight into the chickens coop.

Along side the baby chicks there was a room with a cute mouse farm, I've never seen so much cuteness all together at once. The mice were in a big house enclosure so you weren't able to hold any of them, this is probably due to them being too fast to handle.

We walked up to the tractor ride which are free for everyone, it's a beautiful way to see some of the countryside around the farm. The tractor will bring you up the farm lanes and stop to let you enjoy the views over Belfast and Dundonald. Once the tractor has come to a stop you hop off and the driver will give you some dear feed and will call the Red Deer up for some food, the driver will also tell you all about the beautiful animals while they are licking the food out of your hands! Just remember to hold on tight while on the tractor it can be a bit bumpy.

The farm also offers an indoor and outdoor play area, Pony rides and a café. After doing everything that we done we just ran out of time to try everything but I would defiantly go back to Streamvale Open Farm and give the other activities a try. Streamvale are always hosting events too so keep an eye out on their website to see if you can find the perfect family day out, they also take birthday parties could be the perfect place for your tiny animal lover to have their party.
